Hollis Virgil Brammann, 86, died October 25, 2014 at his home.
He was born in Davenport, Iowa, December 3, 1927, the son of Ernest and Rose (Graf) Brammann. He grew up in Indianapolis. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses February 20, 1954. He owned and operated Irvington Tree Service for many years.
He married his wife Betty June 2, 1970. They entered full-time service as Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1978 and served briefly at Brooklyn Bethel in Brooklyn, New York, the World Headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses. In 1981, they left to go where there was a greater need in Allen County, Kentucky. In 1988, they moved back to Indianapolis to serve as overseer of the Assembly Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Indianapolis. His relentless struggle with Alzheimer’s became apparent in the early 1990’s. He remained a devoted husband, and a caring father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He stole the hearts of everyone around him. Hollis was loved by all his friends and family through all his sickness. Teaching the Bible and supporting the congregation were very important to him. Although deeply saddened by the loss, we rejoice in his loyal service to Jehovah over many decades. His love for people and his pleasant disposition made it wonderful to be around him.
He is survived by his wife 44 years, Betty; a daughter, Debra Brammann; grandchildren, Roland III, Jerry, Sr., Kimberly, Alicia, Seth, Monica, and Mariah; 17 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many, many friends around the world.
He was preceded in death by his children, Claudia, Teresa, Bill, and Hollis, Jr.; his parents; his brother, Robert.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Devon Hills Congregation, 6345 Rucker Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46220. Arrangements by Indiana Funeral Care and Crematory.
